Outdoor furniture and architectural hardware specialists, Robert Plumb, have taken table design to new heights utilising materials such as Iranian limestone, large-format porcelain tiles, concrete, brass and premium basalt in their new products, some of which have been created in collaboration with leading design identities.
Robert Plumb’s new Slab Table features an Iranian limestone top which has been sandblasted to enhance its texture and reveal the unique rust-toned natural veining natural of the predominantly grey stone. Its base features splayed legs and a central spine, giving a clean line and elegant proportions.
The innovative Scissor Table features a single porcelain tile on a scissor leg base. Commonly used as a building cladding material, the large-format architectural tile is impervious to water, sun and staining, making it perfect for outdoor use. The tile top is supported by an aluminium sheet and a solid timber rail along the long sides of the table. The rail ends are left exposed at each end, enhancing the feeling of a floating plane.
The Scissor Table has been developed in collaboration with interior stylist David Harrison, and gives customers options for different creative effects.
Robert Plumb Director Bill Clifton says: “At Robert Plumb we enjoy the benefits that key collaborations bring and we are delighted to be working with David Harrison and Romy Alwill on our new table range.”
Alwill’s collaboration with Robert Plumb has produced Frame, a refined brass and Basaltina (a premium form of basalt) table, for both indoor and outdoor areas. The clever design means the solid brass base supports the basalt top at four points providing stability that belies the lightness of the form. It can be left to patina over time or be lacquered to maintain its shine.
Robert Plumb’s bestselling table, Chunky, has also been updated with a contrasting 30mm concrete top to pair with its New Guinean Rosewood base. This contemporary update maintains the honest, hard wearing appeal that is core to the Robert Plumb aesthetic.
William Dangar, Director of Robert Plumb, says: “Our clients are looking for a broader range of table types and so we have expanded our styles and material selections to suit current trends while holding onto our core beliefs of high quality and local manufacture.”
